She was laughing a little too loudly with her friends, when her class teacher caught her. “As punishment,” the teacher declared, “you will sing a song in tomorrow’s assembly.” “This isn’t fair, Sir,” Iravya protested with a pout. “Everything is fair in discipline and manners.” Her lips curled into a fake sad face, but before she could argue further, a tall figure stepped forward . Vedanth Ahuja. “Here,” he said, handing her a paper. “This is the song you’re singing tomorrow.” She looked down. Her jaw dropped. “Ladki ki Kathi? Are you serious? You expect an eleventh-grader to sing that in front of everyone? ” His deep voice held no mercy, only amusement. “If you can laugh in front of them, Iravya, then singing shouldn’t be a challenge.” Her eyes narrowed. “I will see you,” she muttered. Vedanth smirked, his height and presence looming over her. “Sure. See you in the principal’s office.” And just like that, he walked away leaving her stomping her foot in frustration. “Aghhh!” she hissed under her breath.
